Kaminos 44 Cultural Site

Kaminos 44 is a former Ouzo factory in Piraeus that is in the process of being renovated and converted into a space for creatives and businesses. The 1st phase of renovation has been implemented with our philosophy of “deliberate restraint,” meaning that the original features of the building have been retained and restored, and new interventions kept simple and honest. The building required major structural and fire upgrades, as well as a new roof. The original roof structures were retained, and steel columns were added to support the ends of the rafters and joists. Ply gusset plates were applied to the truss structures in a simple raw finish to brace and reinforce.The open factory floors were stripped of redundant materials and services, exposing the concrete floors, walls, and ceilings. New materials and structures were left raw, adding further character and texture to the spaces.
