Mithimnis

A recent refurbishment in collaboration with Molonglo, preserves the proportions, textures and grandeur of the spaces, while updating with modern amenities. It has been built with textural materials using traditional craftsmanship and respected local tradespeople.

The three apartments are generous in scale, with ceilings that rise to six metres in places. Large windows on both sides of the building provide lots of natural light, while traditional shutters and linen curtains can be used to moderate the sun. The floors are a mix of restored wooden floorboards and a pared-back terrazzo, with subtle variations in tone, colour and aggregate size between rooms. Bathroom wet areas and a generously sized kitchen workbench are made from a richly veined Cipollino marble. Sinks and splashbacks are formed of simple stacked marble pieces.
